Fertilizers are food for plants: they provide the essential nutrients that they need to grow and thrive. Fertilizers enhance the natural fertility of the soil or replace the chemical elements taken from the soil by previous crops. Fertilizers are used across the globe to support sustainable agricultural production, and it is estimated that half the food we eat is produced thanks to mineral fertilizers. Fertilizers are fundamental to agriculture and our challenge is to feed the world sustainably.
The main nutrients in commercial fertilizer are: nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), whereby nitrogen (N) is considered to be the most important nutrient.
Nitrogen fertilizers
The main products are nitrate-based fertilizers such as ammonium nitrate (AN) and calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN), which are well suited to most European soils and climatic conditions, and UREA and UREA ammonium nitrate (UAN) aqueous solution, which are widely used in other parts of the world.
Currently Maddox mainly focuses on the supply and trading of bulk UREA from Turkmenistan, Russia and other Caspian basin producer serving markets in Black-Sea region but also reaching out to clients in India, Brazil and other South American countries.
